DMX also known as Earl Simmons died at the age of 50 on April 9th 2021. He was well known for his rap music during the 1990s. He was born and raised in New York. According to reports his cause of death was a heart attack possibly from drug overdose.
A week before DMX death everyone was showing love, support and prayer to help him possibly recover….Do you think his life would have been different with the love of his father?

The book I wrote titled “Hey Dad, I Am Okay” will help many fatherless adults find a place of peace within. I truly believe “dead beat dads” are numb to their choices. Running from their responsibilities is a cowardly thing to do. But because of the common norm in our communities, the act is done more frequently. Many adults are already affected and there is no going back in time. Moving forward, there are resources available to help take the necessary steps needed to heal. If one never heals from the pain, the pain will remain buried under their emotions. When will hands be joined to make better choices? When will successful marriages increase in the black community? The answer is the day you decide to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem.
Love is an essential part of life that is not discussed in a positive light enough. If you are afraid of love then you are all letting pain control your life. You are afraid to get help, because you do not want to appear weak. You are weak when you ignore the things they may be hurting you the most.
The transition from child to adult hood does not automatically come when you turn 18 or 21. The transition happens when you become responsible for your actions. You are independent and have a basic understanding of the real world. You are an adult when you transition your mind from pain and victim, to healed and warrior.
What happened to DMX was devastating and may his soul rest in peace. Let us learn from our legends and make choices they couldn’t or didn’t make. Success does come with a price and we should be able to enjoy it more than we dread it!
