When I wrote my first book in 2016 I had no idea what I was doing. I wanted to do something different for my birthday, so I wrote a book. It took about 3-weeks for me to write my first book titled: You’re a Diamond: a 30-Day Devotional for Women. After that, I had to design and publish my book with no help. Everything I did I had to learn it myself. My editors were my sister and mother-in-law. It was challenging doing something that I had never done before. At the time I was also 6 months pregnant and had four other children at home. I did what I needed to and pressed through writer’s block, whiny kids, and being tired. What I’ve learned since then is that anything is possible.
Since then I’ve gone on to publish:
- Love Yourself First: How to Heal from Toxic People, Create Healthy Relationships, and Become a Confident Woman.
- When I Think of You
- Let’s Be Honest: Real Answers for Real Women Facing Abuse
Before becoming an author, I never imagine writing a book. It seemed like something only rich or famous people did. Up until that point, I didn’t think that I had much to offer the world. Now I’m amazed at just how much I have to share. I am now a four-time self-published author working on my 5th book called, After Abuse, a 6 part mini-series to help women who’ve experienced domestic abuse. I just want to encourage you that you can become an author. You have something to share with the world: a story, a cookbook, poetry, etc. Don’t let fear hold you back. Go hard after your dreams and don’t let anyone stop you…not even you!
