“Oops, did you say it was declined”?

How much do you know about creating a household budget? Did you learn about it in school? From your parents? Trial and error? When I first started, I paid the bills when I got the notice, sometimes even late if other things came up. I had no planning or organization; just swipe or write a check. “Oops, did you say it was declined”? We have all been there.

Several years ago, I decided it was time to get our family finances in order. I researched, read books and tried several strategies until I figured out what worked for us. It’s not one size fits all and you can’t be afraid to try new things and fail! That’s how I figured out what was best for us.

For our family, planning out the whole year for our standard bills works best for us. I used our paycheck schedule to dictate when we paid bills. I found a lot of money and our credit scores improved drastically.

Set your financial goals and find a system that works best for you.

Best of luck!
