Building connections is a very important factor in winning government contracts and in business. If you are thinking about getting into government contracting, building connections now with the governmental agency staff or procurement department should be number one on your list. I attended a women’s empowerment session where a lady gave her testimony; she secured a government contract by stopping by an agency once a week with cookies. She has a janitorial company and she wanted to offer her services; however, this agency had a contract with another company. This did not stop her, she introduced herself to all of the staff and would stop by with cookies every week. After about two months another agency needed janitorial services and this connection she had formed with cookies and consistency, landed her a contract she may have never gotten to clean their parking lot.
