I asked the question do you willingly walk into problems because I believe that sometimes in life that’s exactly what we do, but then we feel as though life dealt us a rough, unjust, or outright terrible hand. And while I do know that there are sometimes in life that situations and events take place in our lives due to no fault of our own that is not always the case.
As you take inventory of your life, I believe you would agree that there are sometimes that when something has went wrong, or not to plan that you could have done something to have a different outcome, hints the saying hindsight is 20/20. You see, people say that because hindsight is 20/20. Hindsight is the reality check you wish we had before we made the decision we made that was unfavorable in some way, or let’s say turned out in some cases to be an utter disaster.
Because hindsight is that additional information or extra bit of clarity we realized after the fact had we used it in our decision-making process, things would have turned out so much differently, and in most cases that equates to much better results because we would have had the knowledge to apply to make a life transforming transformation resulting in an outcome we would have preferred and therefore automatically been much happier with.
Now, it’s normal for somethings to get by us, and it does happen to the best of us, which is why we typically hear people state you live and you learn. At least we should be living and learning from the situations we go through, so that we’re constantly evolving into a wiser well-rounded individual who can also lend a helping hand or give a word of encouragement to someone who may be experiencing something we’ve gone through. And that brings me back to my question – do you willingly walk into problems?
Because if you do, and you notice that you have a problem recognizing that you’re making decisions that create additional problems in your life and take complicated situations and compound them to the point that there are complications everywhere, then you may need a mindset shift. And it doesn’t have to be with just major or difficult decisions, this mindset struggle can be with simple and everyday decisions that you should be able to discern with common logic.
I’ll give you a real-life example. There’s a house my neighborhood that clearly has plumbing and water issues. Pause for a moment and think about the job of the plumbing system in a house. Now, do you believe that adequate plumbing is important? And if so, how important on a scale of one to ten, (with ten being extremely important and you can’t do without it)?
Personally, I’d rate it a ten, and that’s without any inside knowledge or skills of a plumber because I understand the simple fact that the water used in any house must go somewhere and if it can’t flow and go to the place it needs to that creates a stinky, dirty, costly headache that I don’t want and would prefer to avoid at all costs. Do you agree?
If you’re wondering why I used that example. Well, I want you to see how sometimes we do willingly walk into problems; as I see this issue playing out with people who are committed to living in a house that they are aware has this problem. Now, before you say times are tough and maybe they have their reasons. True enough, still, they don’t yet live in the house. In fact, it has been over 2 months and they are still determined to move into this house when they know it clearly has at least one major problem.
Um hmm, you read that right. They’re waiting to move in this house. So, the truth of the matter is since they have the resources available to move why settle on a house that is already giving them a headache. Why not choose another house or even apartment that doesn’t have a problem? Why continue to wait and wait on a problematic house? Is that wise? Or does that sound like individuals with the mindset of I’m determined despite what I already know?
You see, the word we need to hear sometimes is accountability! That’s right, I’ll say it again – accountability. Because if we continue or carry-on with the mindset that life sucks and is totally always unfair or basis it can lead us to believe that we are a victim who has no ownership whatsoever regarding anything that takes place in our life and that’s simply not true.
Now, I challenge you to seriously look at the decisions that you’ve made that caused you trouble and ask yourself two things: do I regularly see problems and continue that path and do I regularly have negative results or compounded problems from the decisions that I make. If you answered yes to either question, I encourage you one to assess why you do what you do and secondly once you can pinpoint your why, then plan strategic actions to direct you in a different direction for the next time around.
Again, the word today is accountability and your mindset is your responsibility to be accountable for. And while it’s often said life is a great teacher, for life to teach you, you must be able to look at your life experiences and see that you have knowledge that you must apply to positively change the direction of your future.
