We are often concerned with financial budgets, but not enough attention is given to what and whom we are allocating our nonrenewable emotional resources. As a budget coach, part of the work that I do is in helping people be smarter with their money, and many of the same principles of money can be applied to our energy, or emotional currency, as well. So many of us give our energy freely to every person, activity, or topic of discussion that comes our way. Time spend in frustration and anger cannot be gained back, and those lingering feelings can and will taint the time that comes afterward. We all know from an early age that our time here is limited, so why aren’t we more selective about how and with whom spend it? Truly, nearly everyone on the planet could stand to be more stingy about and choosy with their time. So ask yourself, are you making good use of your time?
