Is Giving Up Really An Option?

Is Giving Up Really An Option?

Before you throw your hands up and throw in the towel, I would encourage you to ask yourself a few questions.  Do not be in hurry to answer those questions but allow yourself to hear your truth.  Here are just a few thought-provoking questions you may consider asking:

  1. Did you define your “why” before you jump into the project?

  2. Did you do your homework?

  3. Did you create a plan?

  4. Did you follow the plan?

  5. Have you given yourself enough time to accomplish the goal or task at hand?

Making an informed decision on giving up is something only you should be allowed to decide because, in the end, you are the one that has to live with the decision.  There are many reasons we may tell ourselves that we have to give up or quit but the bottom line is the only valid reason for giving up is that you lack the desire to continue on.  Perhaps your mind changed and you no longer want what you thought you wanted to accomplish.  Go back and think about what your motivation is for pursuing the goal.  Are you motivated by love, money, fame, or power?  It has been said that only desire or love can get you through the hard times in life.  You see it is not money that will keep you motivated but rather the desire or love for money, desire for fame, or desire for power, etc.

If you do not have a love for what you are doing, you are going to give up.  Or perhaps, it will not be your best effort. If you are pursuing a goal only because you think you can make a lot of money, the odds of you giving up are high.  Get real about your motivation, and if you realize that you do not have a love for the thing you are wanting to accomplish, then you should answer the question of whether you should give it up.

You should not give up until you have exhausted all avenues — and even then, you need to give it plenty of thorough thoughts.

There is an old saying, if you can look up then you can get up.

In many cases, the only way to really lose at something is to quit and give up!
