“It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that defiles and dishonors him, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles and dishonors him.”

When you squeeze a lemon, you get lemon juice, an orange, orange juice and a grape, grape juice. Why? Because what’s inside each of them comes out. When someone squeezes us or when we’re under pressure, what do they get? What comes out of us? Are our words and actions sweet or sour, soft or harsh, kind or critical? If we’re honest, actually that answer depends on what we allow to get inside us.

It reminds me of two scriptures:  Psalms 119:11 – Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee and Luke 6:45 – Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. It also reminds me of a story that I heard about a ship which doesn’t sink because of the water around it but by the water that gets inside.

I’ll leave you with some of our Pastor’s wisdom which I’ll paraphrase and give you my spin on it:

Watch what your eyes see – I must filter what I watch

Watch what your ears hear – I must filter what I listen to

Watch what your mind thinks – I must bring every thought under the subjection of the Holy Ghost
What what your mouth speaks – These are the same lips that whisper prayers to God
Watch what your hands handle – Do I really want to touch that?
Watch where your feet go – Hmmm…don’t even go there!

Smiles across the miles laced with Prayers, Blessings and Love,

~Cheryl
