Jumpstart Your Career Shift

"It wasn't until I found myself completely depressed and divorcing my best friend that I questioned my path. I'd settled and now realized that I wanted more out of life. But did I deserve it?"

Growing up, I experienced poverty, which is often coupled with a mindset of lack. For this reason, I’ve learned how to survive – but did I learn to also thrive? After investing almost $100k in my education, I walked away with both a BA and Master degree – only to take on a $30k/yr salary in a workplace led by insecure management who often operated out of fear that my ambition would be recognized and I’d take their job(s). In actuality, I was trying to find my place in the world while simultaneously looking for a way to get out of debt – I had no desire to replace leadership.

It wasn’t until I found myself completely depressed and divorcing my best friend that I questioned my path. I’d settled and now realized that I wanted more out of life. But did I deserve it? As a person of faith, I took to the Word of God to find out. I knew many leaders who refused to preach about prosperity in a financial sense even though there are soooo many scriptures on it! I decided to study prosperity just like I studied healing, deliverance, and self-control…literally (sometimes placing my name directly within the text, repeating the scripture aloud until I created hope around the words and believed the Biblical promise for myself) Scriptures like…Deuteronomy 8:18 ~ “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives [Danita] the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to [my] ancestors, as it is today.” Jeremiah 29:11 ~ ” ‘For [You] know the plans [You] have for [Danita],’ declares the Lord, “ ‘plans to prosper [me] and not to harm [me], plans to give [me] hope and a future.’ ” Philippians 4:19 ~ “And my God will meet all [of Danita’s] needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

These are just a sample of the scriptures I held in reference to my journey into entrepreneurship and ultimately, life coaching. As a trained servant leader, I did not want the spotlight, but desired intimacy with God and impact for His people. But what did that mean? What did I have to offer? Who would listen to me? I’m nothing special, I have no secret sauce to offer but my journey in faith – but it seems that is enough. You and I were fearfully created with purpose and power. What are you missing out on because you are afraid of how it feels to “fail”? What I’ve learned so far is that often what we perceive as “failure” is a way of growth, stretching, training, and preparation.

We don’t come out of the womb walking – instead we slip and slide all over the place, requiring assistance and guidance from those who know we’re much more special than our current abilities and talents might portray. Grab some faith, pray to find the right mentorship, buckle up, and give this life your all. And don’t you dare shrink back just because you experience a misstep, error, or lag in time. Move forward, embracing change, “failure”, and redirection along the way. Just research the stories of those you admire – I guarantee that 99% of them have had hills to climb, shortcomings to overcome, and periods of “failure”.

I encourage you to connect with the Creator, the One who knows you best of all, to find out what He says about you in the Bible, and trust what He says with conviction. Let it lead you deeper in faith, hope, and expectation of a fulfilling life. Since we were not created to be islands, you will start to see your circle shift, your habits shift, your mindset shift, and maybe even a shift in who you take advice from. Don’t fear the shift! When your faith is activated, God moves – often times through the relationships we have. So do NOT be surprised when He introduces new people to your life – association MATTERS in this journey and TRUST me, you ARE going to need the support. And since I do NOT believe in coincidences, I am happy to be a source of support for you if you’d like to activate the shift THIS YEAR!~ Just book with Coach Danita and let’s move forward together in faith.

Here are a couple more scriptures that have brought comfort, clarity, encouragement, refreshing, and resolution throughout my journey so far.

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard [my heart and mind] in Christ Jesus”

Malachi 4:2 “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.”
