Self-Acceptance =/= Self-Love

Loving yourself means chasing your peace and joy, not being complacent with who you are.

Loving yourself means chasing your peace and joy, not being complacent with who you are.

There is a common misconception that, in order to truly practice self-love, one must accept themselves, and their status quo, fully. There is such a thing as a healthy dissatisfaction, and quiet as it’s kept, this is one of the components of self-love. If there is something in your life, something about you, that causes you constant stress, grief, and anxiety, and it’s within your power to change this, why not? Why not allow self-love, and wanting to learn, grow, and show up as your very best self, push you to chase your bliss? Why sit in complacency and call that “self-acceptance”? You don’t have to be perfect, and no one is ever going to be, but the goal is to love yourself, and your life, not to learn to tolerate what you’re too afraid or unmotivated to chance. You deserve the chance to be happy.
