Who am I now if I’m not a wife?

Self-Concept

Healing from a broken heart is as much a physical process as it is an emotional one. When your heart has been broken, it can take a while to find your way back to being whole.

In a relationship, it’s very normal to ‘intertwine’ with a partner.

Intimacy involves opening up to another person – opening up to their love, wants, needs, feelings, opinions, love, goals, dreams. When that happens, you can’t help but be influenced and eventually move in the same direction.

It’s all a healthy part of being with someone fully, and it is the magic of relationships.

On the other hand, a breakup means the undoing part of that merging and is painful to go through it. Having an emotional release is an important part of healing. Reclaiming a strong self-concept – establishing who you are outside of the relationship – is critical and will be enormously supportive of recovery.

I have been working to rebuild and balance my life and to use my story and what I have learned from it to help others find balance and re-establish well-being in their lives.

It is about rediscovering who you are as a person and building upon the once strong and independent person you might lose along the way. It is about re-centering and re-purposing. It is about learning to like yourself again.
