Self-love is the foundation of all relationships. As children, we are taught to love others and put other’s needs before our own. Most never get to a place where they learn to love themselves. As a result, people suffer from out of balance and one-sided relationships. If God tells us to love others the way we love ourselves than self-love must be important. No one ever taught me this, I had to learn it the hard way. If we are to have healthy relationships then we must be healthy and whole people first. Self-love is the process of getting to know yourself the same as you would a love interest. It’s knowing what you like, what you want, and what you need. Self-love is giving yourself permission to be the person you were created to be without needing validation from others. Self-love is validating and accepting yourself. Self-love is beautiful because you get to know who you are, and when you know who you are, then you will know who you need. The journey of self-love is an ever-evolving process that enriches one’s life and relationships. It’s a win-win situation because self-love allows you to become your best and then give your best to others. It’s time you give it a try!
