Your Heart Posture

If you realize that any of your thoughts include skepticism, pessimism, doubt, fear, rage, bitterness, jealousy or even uncertainty, sis, you have some work to do.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23 CSB

What is the current state of your heart posture, may I ask? What is the attitude that you’re carrying in your heart?

Having trouble answering that?

All you need to do is pay attention to your thoughts, because they are a direct reflection of what’s in your heart. Your thoughts—positive, negative, good, or bad—control your attitudes. Your attitudes are the sum total of your thoughts. Your attitudes lead to your actions. See how that works?

Life likes to take us on many journeys and pathways. This will bring with it a wide range of experiences that can and will influence how we decide to view life, view other people, and view ourselves.

Some people may develop bitterness, constant anxiety, cynicism, dread, jealousy, selfishness, or jadedness as a result of particular situations.

We frequently find ourselves making life decisions from a broken, lost, and hurting space when we operate from a heart space that is not of God (all of the instances above). It goes without saying that choices made with that attitude will never be in our best interests.

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 CSB

I love the TPT version of this same verse

Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes. Romans 12:2 TPT

You will have to immerse yourself in the Word to help transform your mind. God will talk to you when you make time for Him to do so. This is how you will come to know and trust what is real and true for you, rather than what this world and your own hurt and pain from the past have taught and shown you.

I’ll ask it again: What is your heart posture?

If you realize that any of your thoughts include skepticism, pessimism, doubt, fear, rage, bitterness, or even uncertainty, sis, you have some work to do.

This in no way lessens you as a person or makes you a failure. It simply highlights the emotional wounds you need to heal. To genuinely start receiving all the gifts/blessings that are rightfully yours, you simply need to begin by healing the areas in your heart that have been revealed.

There is no end to this process of personal development. Your willingness to put up the work is what matters.

Do it for your future self. She deserves it!
